St Andrews – About the Church

Home / St Andrews / St Andrews – About the Church

St Andrew’s Church was built in 1885.  It is situated on Holcombe Hill, between the crossroads and Common Lane, just opposite Scotts Close. The postcode is BA3 5FR. .

Our vision is to be a church who welcome everyone of all ages and who demonstrate the love of God to all in the community every day.

Monday Open Hour
Every Monday, we are open from 11.00 – 12.00. Come and join us for a cuppa and biscuit. Dogs and young children / babies are very welcome. We usually have between 12 and 25 people each week and it is a really good way of meeting people and seeing friends.

St Andrew’s Loo
We have now raised over £12,000 for this, but the total amount needed will be more than double this. We have applied for grants, and hope we may have some good news fairly soon. We are also in the process of getting detailed quotations. We have the necessary planning permission from Mendip Council, and we are waiting for the Faculty (Church Planning Permission) to come through from the Diocese. Although we are calling this project ‘the Loo’, it will actually include re-modelling of the 100 Room at the back of the church and installing some cupboards in the vestry. This will enable us to use the space in the 100 Room much more effectively. If you wish to donate to the Loo, please click here.
